What to do with the 80 million leaves that fall off the Areca palm in southern India every year? After 4 years of research designer Tjeerd Veenhoven found out how he could turn the leaves into palm leather. In collaboration with O'neill he created the ultimate flip flops for everyone who cares about the environment. The flip flops are not only made from sustainable material but also provide work for local Indian people. The 'Tree of Life' project pays locals to pick up and collect the fallen leaves which are used for manufacturing the special palm leather. This way the workers can benefit from what mother nature has to offer and earn money by cleaning up. So, by buying and wearing the flip flops you directly support the Tree of Life project! € 79,95.
